The Rails Girls initiative was started in Finland as an answer to the need of informal education of women in the area of new technologies. Currently, it is a movement uniting independent people organising programming events all over the world.
The first Polish edition of Rails Girls took place in Cracow (April 2012), to quickly spread the idea of railsgirls workshops to other cities. The workshops are free, open for women at all ages, no matter how good their programming skills and technical knowledge are.
