KrkDataLink#2
Hi Guys,
it's high time for our next meetup. We are proud to announce our speakers:
- "Guerilla Streaming Data Platform, how I set up my own platform based on Apache Kafka, Hazelcast, and RxJava, my experience & feedback", by Jaroslaw Palka
What bored developers do when nobody is watching? They write another data streaming platform. This will be a story about the team who had enough time, budget and luck to be able to build their own data streaming platform. This will be a story about architecture and technology choices, tackling weird performance issues, losing faith and going to production on biggest Polish e-commerce platform, Allegro.pl.
Jaroslaw will talk about their motivations, things that terribly wrong and where they end up with our solutions today. Expect lots of 3 letter acronyms, few insights from building distributed systems and few weird quirks from JVMland.
Jaroslaw Palka is in the IT industry for more than 15 years, as a database administrator, programmer, architect, manager and "onsite disaster engineer". At the moment, working at Allegro.pl, enjoying the way of code, after few years as a chief architect in SaaS business. In the meantime, a coach and trouble maker in symentis.pl and JDD and 4Developers conferences, wasting his spare minutes of free time on JVM, assembler and Linux and other low-level stuff.
- "Datomic in production", by Krzysztof Kaczmarek
This talk is an experience report about using Datomic in production. Datomic is an immutable database with a logic-programming-based query language, it allows to build distributed systems that can leverage the entire history of your critical data. 100% beef, 0% parenthesis.
Krzysztof works currently as Software Engineer in Tooploox and Trainer in Symentis. He visited ridiculously big and small projects coming to conclusion - you can use any methods you want, as long as you hire best people and choose the simplest way to accomplish your tasks. In spare time - kungfu instructor and author of really silly jokes.
