- At least 5 years of experience in supporting mission critical SQL Server database based commercial services, ideally internet facing
- Ability to troubleshooting of SQL Server performance
- Experience of operating in an ITIL driven service management environment, with particular experience in complying with change and problem management
- Experience with SQL Server operation within an AWS or other public cloud environment – minimum skill is within a VMware hosting environment
- Experience in TCP/IP networking configuration and troubleshooting in relation to SQL database services
- Experience in monitoring, backup and disaster recovery of SQL Server database instances, databases and services
- Being company expert on Microsoft SQL Server technologies
- Ensuring all SQL Server instances and databases are actively managed to achieve optimal availability and performance, evidenced by metrics from Idera database monitoring, Logic Monitor infrastructure monitoring and Pingdom service monitoring
- Troubleshooting performance, quality and availability issues with database servers and associated instances and databases including Microsoft Index Serve
- Supporting the Problem Manager to investigate incidents, identify root cause, identify and progress workaround and permanent fix actions
- Working with the Cloud Solution Architect to ensure high quality and consistent architecture documentation exists for all existing and new solutions that include SQL Server
