Ela Maniakowska delivers a talk on her experiments with Big Data. She started her career in IT at Roche three years ago, working as a Junior IT Specialist during our Graduate Program. She started as a Big Data administrator/detective, and has since drifted into the wide ocean of Data Science. As a member of the Data Science Lab, she is involved in a number of experiments. Some of them investigate interactions between numbers and classifiers in Big Data habitat, while others explore the behavior of text data treated with NLP and ML methods. Everything is drenched in a Python dressing. Privately, she’s a gardener, musician, calligrapher, couchsurfer, and Nutella lover.

Michal presents a concise review of the state-of-the art methods in natural language understanding and shows real-life examples of machine learning methods used for text classification, fact extraction, and natural language generation. His talk is supplemented with live demos.
Michal Pikusa is an independent data science consultant specializing in natural language understanding and machine learning. He's earned his data science experience working for Roche and McKinsey & Company, after getting his Ph.D. in linguistics.
