About the Job
Akamai is looking for a Senior System QA Engineer with vast testing and automation experience combined with the skills and passion to help build system-level test automation and execute automated and manual tests for some of Akamai’s most interesting and complex technologies. You will be on a team responsible for testing the performance, reliability, scalability, security, and functionality of Akamai’s general-purpose log analysis and visualization tool. These systems support and operate behind the scenes to process, aggregate and store transactions for the purposes of analytics, reporting, intelligence, decision support and provisioning. A working knowledge of networking, parallel computing concepts, databases, SQL, and a understanding of GUI’s, and data visualization is desired.About the Team
The Platform Quality Assurance group is responsible for extensive testing across multiple technologies and systems developed at Akamai. This group is focused on integrating these technologies and focusing on real-world, end-to-end testing to ensure all of Akamai’s systems integrate and deploy to Akamai’s Platform.
Responsibilities
* Develop test coverage for network software applications
* Ensure that system and software under test meet product design/specifications
* Perform full SQA cycle for software releases in a fast-pace environment. This includes - but is not limited to - gathering specs, developing test plans, running automated and manual tests as needed, and analyzing test results
* Perform technical risk assessment and contribute to decisions related to release readiness and schedules
* Continuously improve testing methodologies, procedures and environment
* Continuously develop and enhance automated test suites to improve efficiency
* Build from scratch and maintain our large-scale, distributed test environment
* Regularly review and improve test coverage
* Provide the guideline or technical assistance to the junior engineer
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
* 3+ years of experience developing or testing network software applications
* 2+ years of experience using databases and SQL commands
* 2+ years of experience developing automation in Perl/Python/Bash
* 3+ years of experience working in Linux/Unix environment
Desired Qualifications
* Experience with testing very large scale, distributed systems
* Strong problem solving and technical troubleshooting skills, attention to detail
* Willingness and flexibility to switch between multiple high priority assignments
* Excellent verbal and written communications skills
* Highly driven, positive attitude, self-motivated and team player
* Good understanding of Java based applications
* Familiarity with test tools (such as, Selenium) and continuous integration systems (such as, Jenkins)
