About the Job The Luna Engineering group is growing and is looking for strong technical leader to help to drive product design and development across various teams. You will work with engineering leaders, product management and other teams to create new applications for the Luna Control Center portal. The position requires a high degree of creativity and methodology to align business requirements to system and technical requirements using best practices, design patterns and existing assets.   About the Team Luna is Akamai’s face to our users on the Web. It provides a full range of tools, including analytics, configuration management, web services, training, support, and billing for our customers to manage their accounts online. The Luna team is responsible for the software infrastructure, development, look and feel and technical evolution of the Luna Control Center.   Responsibilities • Understand product requirements and how to fulfill them within the Akamai assets. • Design high-level architecture design documents for applications within Luna platform. • Responsibility for compliance issues and cooperation with other technology owners. • Work with cross-functional teams in Engineering, Product Management and User Experience. • Lead design discussions and develop software that enriches the product feature set while maintaining robustness, scalability, fault-tolerance and security. • Advocate best practices for the software development life cycle and use your experience to mentor others. • Establish technical direction and design for product development from the engineering perspective. • Provide technical leadership across engineering to ensure product development is smooth, evolving design as needed. Basic Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent. • Overall Experience: 8 years or equivalent experience. • Minimum 4 years experience in software engineering (preferably Java-related technologies) • Knowledge and strong understanding of architecture patterns. • Orientation in modern web technologies and standards. • Fluent in English Desired Qualifications • Experience in cloud based systems (AWS and Azure). • Experience working with Internet protocols and concepts (HTTP, DNS, IP, TCP). • Experience in enterprise class and/or large-scale web application systems. • Practical experience in working with languages, technologies, frameworks and standards: Java, Spring, Docker, RabbitMQ, Redis, Oracle DB, Cassandra, ElasticSearch, JavaScript, AngularJS, OAuth2 • Experience in designing systems in compliance with security standards (PCI, SOX). • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs. • Experience in developing scalable customer business reporting and analytics software. • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and problem solving/troubleshooting skills. • Highly driven, hands-on, self-motivating, self-learning team player with a can-do attitude. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in conveying complex technical content to a variety of audiences.
