Akamai’s Web Experience Business Unit is seeking an experienced Lead Senior Software Engineer with a strong drive for team leadership for the ongoing growth development of an important new product capability. This person will be in the core of an engineering team in Akamai’s Krakow office building one of Web Experience’s most exciting new products. Beyond doing significant implementation, this role will participate in defining the overall product direction and software architecture. As the team grows, the potential exists for this position to expand to include additional managerial responsibilities.
The work on this product will enable customers to see the value Akamai brings to their web presences every day, by:
• Presenting a new, cross-organizationally developed configuration capability.
• Creating powerful features that allow customers to leverage the Akamai Edge network in new ways that are centered around their APIs.
• Creating powerful, intuitive visualizations of customer data.
The expected technologies in support of this vision will include Web services, advanced User Interfaces and Big Data Systems.

The Web Experience Business Unit builds the core technologies that underpin the fastest, most scalable web sites around the world. Our products include the Ion product line, SSL certificate management capabilities, the API Gateway, Image Manager, and many other web-centric solutions that are vital to e-commerce, high performance websites, and Our customers include sophisticated, world-leading organizations across all industry verticals, such as Airbus, Audi, Hilton, IBM, L’Oréal, Puma, Qantas Airways, Rakuten, SAP and Siemens.
Responsibilities
• Software architecture, design, and implementation of Web Applications and Services.
• Full-stack software development: front-end and back-end, in a system-oriented environment.
• Execution in a multi-disciplined environment, including other engineering teams, QA, and Product Management.
• Maintenance and support of existing applications and services.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of Web Application and Services Development experience, including material, demonstrable use of:
o Java and Java Enterprise Edition
o Back-end relational databases such as Oracle
o Front-end technologies such as JavaScript, JQuery, HTML, CSS.
o Linux/Unix environments
• Experience in at least two of the following Java/Web Application design patterns and frameworks: MVC, Struts, Spring, Hibernate.
• Ability to deploy, support, debug complex applications in a system-oriented environment
• Excellent English language written and verbal communication skills.
• Passion to understand, learn, and utilize new technologies.
• Can-do, positive attitude.
Desired Qualifications
• Technical Lead, Project Lead, or Project Owner experience.
• Experience with a modern front-end application framework such as backbone.js or Angular.js.
• Experience developing Web Services using SOAP and or REST principles and patterns.
• Working knowledge of Internet protocols and concepts (IP, TCP, HTTP, DNS).
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and best practices.
