Tym razem czeka nas coś zupełnie wyjątkowego.
Po raz pierwszy zamiast standardowego meetupu zrobimy trening! I to nie byle jaki bo prowadzony przez topowych światowych postgresowców: Tomasa Vondrę z 2ndquadrantu i Hans-Jürgen Schönig z Cybertec.
Całe szkolenie będzie dotyczyło tuningu. Najpierw zaczynamy od Tomasa, który opowie o tuningu konfiguracji, checkpointów i demona autovacuum, następnie Hans uzupełni waszą wiedzę o optymalizację indeksów i zagadnienia dotyczące optymalizatora.
Oba wystąpienia będą w języku angielskim.
== Basics of PostgreSQL configuration and tuning ==

In this half-day training I'll first briefly discuss the overall PostgreSQL architecture, and how it interacts with the operating system and it's various parts (filesystemm, etc.). Then we'll go through the most important configuration options and I'll give you some general recommendations how to pick good values for various workload types (OLTP, OLAP, ...). And finally I'll focus on two most important aspects of PostgreSQL tuning, which is autovacuum and checkpoints.

Tomas first met PostgreSQL in 2003 and quickly became a big fan. He participated in porting various applications to PostgreSQL from other databases, tuning and fixing performance issues etc. He is also a member of the executive committee of CSPUG (Czech and Slovak PostgreSQL Users Group), an "umbrella" organization for the local PostgreSQL community.
Tomas currently works as a database engineer 2ndQuadrant, working on various PostgreSQL-related tasks.
