Presentation: Securing Microservice-based APIs

Michał Trojanowski, Product Marketing Engineer, Curity

Security is never a simple task, the same applies to APIs. Properly securing APIs gets even more challenging when the API ecosystem grows. Note that this growth is not limited to just a greater number of exposed endpoints. In a microservice-based world, APIs can grow in different directions. As the API ecosystem gets larger, merely starting to use OAuth may not be enough. In the talk, I will describe the common security issues of large APIs and how to address them in whichever direction your API grew.

Workshop: To TDD or not to TDD? That is not the question. Test-Driven Development in practice

Jorge Viana, Senior Java Developer, GFT Poland

Immerse yourself in an interactive workshop on Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodology. Step by step, learn how to develop software starting from tests, using the iconic game Tic-Tac-Toe as our project. Whether you're a seasoned programmer or just starting, this workshop will provide a solid foundation in TDD and skills you can apply immediately.

Who should attend the workshop?

The workshop is open to everyone, regardless of experience level. Beginners will find a brief introduction to essential concepts, while experienced programmers can dive straight into the practical exercises.

What to bring?

Bringing a laptop is optional but recommended. If possible, come with a laptop set up with an empty project and JUnit dependencies to actively follow along with the presenter.

What will you gain?

  • Practical experience in TDD: From simple functionalities to advanced aspects of game logic.
  • Development skills: Learn to write code that's not just functional but also maintainable and extendable.
  • Applicable knowledge: Learn to reduce bugs in your code and effectively refactor, valuable in any programming project.

Workshop Structure:

The workshop will alternate between short theoretical blocks and practical exercises, ensuring participants learn by doing.
