Spatial modelling of real estate prices as an approximation of quality of urban life - Adam Dabrowski

Quality of life is one of the most important factors affecting health. However, the very concept of "quality of life" is complex and consists of both individual characteristics, such as the level of education and environmental elements, eg. the availability of green areas close to home. This situation hinders the holistic approach to the subject and the application of quality of life in practice. This presentation will cope with assessing the impact of spatial factors on the quality of life of residents in Poznań through spatial modelling of real estate prices. Since the key component of real estate prices is its location, they are often used as an indirect measure of quality of life because, in general, it can be assumed that better places to live will cost more than the worse. Thanks to hedonic modeling one can not only determine which spatial elements significantly affect the quality of life, but also create a spatial prediction that will help to answer the question where living conditions are better.

Adam Dabrowski is a spatial data scientist who emerged from the faculty of geography. His scientific activities are currently held both in Roche at the Advanced Analytics and Data Insight team and in Adam Mickiewicz University where he is finishing my PhD thesis that is connected to the presented subject.

Data science project structure in Python - Mateusz Bednarski

Data science projects are mostly experimental. New models are created very often, used libraries or preprocessing methods change rapidly as well. In such environment, it is very easy to end up with chaos in code repository, that causes issues even with reproducing own results. During the presentation, I will show a few basic principles, which allow to increase readability and reliability with little effort.

Mateusz is working in Roche for almost 4 years. He is a data scientist, working mostly with natural language processing.
