Crystallize Your Mixture – Elixir Tracing Techniques

The Erlang VM, that Elixir runs on, comes with very good support for tracing that is essential in the Elixir developer’s toolkit. However, people new into the world of the BEAM’s may be unconscious of what it has to offer in terms of tracing and it’s not that straightforward to use even for those of us who are somewhat experienced.   The presentation focuses on the internal tracing techniques that can be used from within Elixir. Firstly, low-level tracing BIFs are introduced and then console tools that are built on top of them. If time permits, we’ll have a look at fully-featured graphical tools are well. About the speaker: Szymon Mentel works as a System Engineer at Erlang Solutions. He graduated from AGH-UST receiving Master of Science degree in December 2015. For the past three years, he has worked on projects related to Software Defined Networking. He is involved with system design and development and also teaches Erlang.
