Abstract:

During the presentation we will discuss the migration of an old ETL solution used for spend analytics from SQL stored procedures to Pyspark on Synapse on Azure. The migration was carried out to leverage the benefits of cloud computing and to make the ETL process more configurable for every client. The presentation will focus on the challenges faced during the migration and the benefits obtained by moving to the cloud-based solution. The new solution has helped to improve the performance and scalability of the ETL process, resulting in faster and more accurate spend analytics. Additionally, the configurable nature of the solution has made it easier to customize the ETL process for each client's specific needs.

• Gwidon Famułka

Philosopher/logician, who accidentally realized that there is an interesting world outside university walls.

Working with data for around 10 years as software developer, data analyst, data engineer etc.

Currently, staff engineer in McKinsey. Enjoys diving, sailing and trips to the middle of nowhere.

• Tymon Czarnota

Tymon Czarnota is a highly skilled data engineer and data scientist with over six years of experience in the field. He completed his master's degree at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at Warsaw University of Technology, specializing in Data Science.

Tymon has worked for some of the leading technology companies in Poland, including SAS Polska and Lingaro, before joining McKinsey. At McKinsey, he focuses on cloud technologies and Big Data solutions, such as Azure, AWS, Spark, ElasticSearch, and Kafka.

Outside of work, Tymon is an avid nerd, indulging in his love of RPG and Warhammer games. He is excited to share his expertise and experience at the upcoming technological meetup and hopes to connect with like-minded individuals in the industry.

• Filip Regeńczuk

Graduate of Computer Science at Wroclaw University of Science and Technology. Since 2020 working in IT, starting as a data analyst and currently working as a data engineer at Orpheus, part of McKinsey & Company. Filip specializes in software development and automation of processes, with a recent interest in cloud computing. In free time, enjoys skating and playing on bass guitar.
