Description:

Open Source NoSQL Databases User Group would like to invite you to the next meeting of the group that will take place on 9th Oct 2019 between 18:30 and 20:00 at MIM UW (Banacha 2a). Subject this time will be "How Opera Syncs Tens of Millions of Browsers and Sleeps Well at Night".

Opera is a widely used web browser that uses Scylla to sync the data of millions of browsers to a back-end data repository. The results of the migration and further optimizations they made in their stack helped Opera to gain better latency/throughput and lower resources usage beyond their expectations.

Attend this session to learn how to:

1. Migrate your data in a sane way, without any downtime

2. Connect a Python+Django web app to Scylla, how to use intranode sharding to improve your application

3. Manage a large number of application servers

Bio:

Jerzy Kozera is a software engineer working at Opera between backend, DevOps, and frontend. He has over 10 years of experience, working or contracting for various small and large companies, including Google and Bloomberg. He is the author of the Zeal open source documentation browser, though he no longer maintains it.

After a meetup we plan to go for beers to a nearby pub.
