Description:

This technical workshop will get you completely up to speed on what is happening in the world of self-sovereign identity development. Specifically, you will learn everything there is to know about Hyperledger Aries Framework JavaScript, an all batteries included toolkit for exchanging verifiable credentials. In recent times, this framework had evolved a lot due to active community involvement and EU funding. It is now one of the most mature tools in the Aries ecosystem. Aries Framework JavaScript specializes in multiplatform development and accessibility for developers starting out in the world of self-sovereign identity.

During this 1.5 hour workshop, Berend and Karim from Animo Solutions will go over the primary focal points of the framework as well as its current capabilities. They will give an overview of the roadmap ahead, with demonstrations of some of the solutions that have been built using the framework. After this, they will demonstrate how it feels to work with the framework by doing a live coding session.

You will enjoy this workshop if you are interested in self-sovereign identity, Web 3 tech stacks, open source development, JavaScript/TypeScript, Multiplatform development and practical tech-minded meet-ups.

Speaker bio: Berend Sliedrecht

Berend Sliedrecht (better known to Hyperledger contributors as blu3beri on GitHub), has been working in open-source self-sovereign identity development for most of his adult life. After originally graduating from the University of Applied Sciences in Utrecht on the topic of Hyperledger Aries (Adding Binary Large Object Support to Verifiable Credentials), Berend kind of never stopped working on the Aries project.

Now, for Animo Solutions, he is mainly involved in the Hyperledger Aries Framework JavaScript project, where he specializes in lower level components and usability for mobile developers. Berend also created the Agent CLI, a free and open source development tool for developers working with Aries standards.

Speaker bio: Karim Stekelenburg

Karim makes sure that anyone working in self-sovereign identity doesn't lose sight of their role in the larger Web3 ecosystem, as well as the long term goal of creating a more equal world. After graduating on Hyperledger Aries: Creating a Mobile Wallet (a project that later became the base for the Hyperledger project Bifold). Karim co-founded Animo, a self-sovereign identity development company in Utrecht, The Netherlands.

As well as a contributor to several Hyperledger Aries repositories, Karim is a maintainer of Aries Framework JavaScript, and has led the EU funded effort to extend it with a mobile wallet SDK.
