Description:

Ready for Poznan Open Source Meetup#2? Here we go!

Join the Poznan open source community on Thursday, April 25th for an evening packed with open source high-tech goodness. Two technical presentations, a Q&A session, giveaways and of course a socializing & networking afterparty in Concordia Design till late.

This time, we're all about Linux!

Agenda:

#1 Up your game with tiling window managers - Peter Zierhoffer, Antmicro

Even the greatest of hackers have to leave the console and use a window manager from time to time. Most of these are not really keyboard-friendly and become more of a nuisance if too many windows are open at the same time. Tiling window managers are a great way to organise this mess to fit your specific needs.

If you are into customizing your Linux workstation, like to have real control over your system and want to improve your everyday workflow, this talk will give you an introduction to the topic and overview of different solutions, followed by a quick tutorial on how to start.

#2 Linux on RISC-V - Michael Gielda, RISC-V Foundation / CHIPS Alliance

This presentation will cover new developments in the state of Linux on RISC-V, the wildly successful open source ISA (instruction set architecture) and the implications of using a popular open source operating system on a free and open computer architecture adopted by major semiconductors and tech companies - Google, NVIDIA, NXP, Qualcomm, Microchip, Western Digital and others.

The talk will discuss i.a. progress in 32-bit Linux, the RISC-V Getting Started Guide, and the collaboration between CHIPS Alliance and the RISC-V Foundation to curate high-quality open source RTL code relevant to the design of Open Source CPUs, RISC-V based SoCs and complex peripherals for FPGAs and custom silicon.

Registration will be at the entry based on the meetup attendee list. You will be asked to provide your name, surname and affiliation. You have to be an adult to attend. Upon entering the venue, you agree that you might be photographed/filmed.
