DevOps and cloud are the key enablers for digital transformation but what does it mean to be Cloud Native? Cloud-native computing is different from cloud computing. Cloud computing changed the way we provision, manage and pay for compute, network, and storage resources — but the cloud is nothing more than someone else’s computer.
Cloud Native means bringing cloud-centric good practices and principles to all aspects of the software development and delivery lifecycle, whether the applications reside in the cloud, on premise or both (hybrid cloud). Cloud Native computing includes everything special about the cloud, and then adds many other fundamental capabilities, including how to support ephemeral, elastic software infrastructure at scale.
