Scala in 2025 & Shaping the Clouds: Introduction to TypeOps

Join us on February 17th for the next Krakow Scala User Group Meetup. This time, the event will be held at the VirtusLab's office at Szlak 49. Check out the details.
‘Scala in 2025: How to Start, What to Learn‘ - Michał Pawlik
Join me for a beginner-friendly talk, where I'll introduce Scala and guide you through the essentials! I'll provide a brief overview of IDEs and build tools, and walk you through various coding styles like direct style concurrency and functional programming. Whether you're just starting out or looking to experiment with new approaches, this session will offer valuable insights and help you on your Scala journey.
"Shaping the Clouds - Introduction to TypeOps" - Łukasz Biały
In my talk I will introduce a novel approach to system design - TypeOps - in which application layer and infrastructure layer are fused together to provide unprecedented safety and productivity for Scala teams. TypeOps leverages the familiar type safety of strongly typed languages to prevent incidents during deployments by enforcing a wide selection of invariants. I will present how you can embrace the world of operations by treating Scala applications as strongly typed Pulumi resources that enable the "if it compiles, it works" feeling at scale of whole systems.
Speakers:
Michał Pawlik
Software engineer, writing (not exclusively) about Scala, OSS contributor, eager to help others onboard to FP world
Łukasz Biały
Polyglot full-stack developer and functional programming enthusiast. PSE @ VirtusLab. Values quality over quantity. Permanent learner with a severe information dependency problem. Enjoys conversations about philosophy and all things related to mind's inner workings. Loves mountains, biking and hiking.
