Description:

Various ICT applications, whether for city infrastructures, factories, or wearable devices, use large arrays of sensors collecting data for transmission over the Internet to a central, cloud-based computing resource. Analytics software running on the cloud computers reduces the huge volumes of generated data into actionable information for users, and commands to actuators back out in the field. So, smart sensors are one key factor in various ICT Application successes – but these are not conventional types, which simply convert physical variables into electrical signals. They have needed to evolve into something more sophisticated to perform a technical, scalable and economical viable role within the ICT environment.

This special issue is devoted to the latest research in smart sensors. Original contributions from researchers describing their original, unpublished, research contribution which is not currently under review by another conference or journal and addressing state-of-the-art research are invited to share their work in this special issue.

Topics:

It is evident that the creation of an innovative IT ecosystem involves significant developments in a broad range of topics, from foundational topics regarding the organization and analysis of information, to papers presenting novel technological platforms for interconnecting smart sensors and intelligent devices, to pilots reporting recent developments in real-world deployments. Full length original and unpublished research papers based on theoretical or experimental contributions related to the below mentioned topics are invited for submission in this special issue.
