Meetup at Techies is an event dedicated to developers who want to exchange experiences and broaden their knowledge on the most important industry topics.

The initiative will be organized at Techies Space, at the Codete headquarters in Cracow (Na Zjeździe 11 street) on Thursday, March 31, at 6 p.m.

This time the topic of the conversation is Becoming a Fullstack Developer.

During the meeting:

  • Mateusz Kwaśniewski, tech lead at Codete & senior full-stack developer at Cloudinary, will talk about the methods of writing cleaner and more testable code.
  • Doron Tsur, senior back-end developer at Cloudinary will answer the question: "Are we Deno yet?"
  • Patrick Tolosa, Cloudinary team lead, will explain how to become a senior developer.

Title: Not Your Uncle's Clean Code

Description: Upper case Clean Code is one man's aesthetics for writing code. It has a large number of devoted followers but also a growing number of critical voices (https://qntm.org/clean).

Regardless of where you stand, I always wished there was Clean Code 102 for grownups that:

  • Goes beyond the obvious
  • Takes into account nuances of not only backend development, but also frontend development from people who actively ship production code in both environments
  • Makes use of modern type systems like TS to achieve things that are impossible in our grandparents' languages like Java

Come join the rethinking cycle discovering the 2022 lessons for writing cleaner, more testable, and more correct code.

Time: 45 mins

Doron Tsur, Cloudinary

Title: Are we Deno yet?

Description: There has been a new Javascript runtime in town for some time now. In may 2020 Deno reached 1.0.0. Is Deno ready to be the highly scalable production server we wish it to be?

During the talk, we will explore the security, performance, and useability of Deno and see if we can actually use it in the near future.

We will try to pave the way to answer questions like:

  • How does one test for production readiness?
  • Does its unique feature lend itself to use cases where Deno shines better?
  • What do I need to do to run Deno in production?

The talk should provide you with tools and initial intuition on how to evaluate this for your JS shop.

Time: 25 min

Patrick Tolosa, Cloudinary

Title: How to become a senior developer

Description: We'll discuss what it takes to make the leap from a junior developer to a senior developer.

Time: 40 mins

The event will be launched in English.

Instead of the traditional entry fee, we encourage you to support the fundraiser, from which all proceeds will be donated to the Polish Red Cross to help Ukraine.
