Opis:

Join us on Friday, January 25th 2019 for the inaugural event of the Wroclaw Open Source Meetup group!

We will be kicking off the meetup series with talks on two formidable and thought-provoking subjects with which we would like to set the stage for future discussions and sharing experience.

Agenda:

  • Linux on RISC-V - Michael Gielda, Chair of Marketing Committee Content TG, RISC-V Foundation

This presentation will cover exciting new developments in the state of Linux on RISC-V, the wildly successful open source ISA (instruction set architecture) and the implications of using a popular open source operating system on a free and open computer architecture adopted by major semiconductors and tech companies - Google, NVIDIA, NXP, Qualcomm, Microchip and others. Thanks to its open, flexible and collaborative nature, RISC-V is leading the way in next generation research, education and commercial projects, allowing the freedom to innovate in both software and the underlying hardware. RISC-V encourages HW/SW co-development of new approaches to security, AI, IoT, while supporting well known open source industry standards like Linux, Zephyr, GCC, etc.

  • Open source in FPGA - Karol Gugala, Team Lead SW & FPGA, Antmicro

The talk will discuss latest developments in open source FPGA and digital design, including new Hardware Description Languages (HDLs), open source, vendor-neutral IP libraries, open FPGA tooling, open source soft CPUs etc. Once a niche market in general and for open source specifically, FPGAs have recently seen an outburst of open source creativity and innovation with a particular focus on more software-driven workflows. We will present new open source HDL generation frameworks, development hardware, tools and IP and how we are using them to rapidly innovate in a domain traditionally dominated by proprietary solutions.
