What topics will we cover at the Affirm Tech Meetup?
1. From Messy to Organised Code: The Power of Python Decorators
If you cannot remember why you wrote such a messy code 6 months back, you are not alone. Come and learn how we, and you can too, turn thousands of lines of code into structured, maintainable, and robust codebase with the help of decorators. Together, we will demystify how standard library decorators such as singledispatch and contextmanager are used in production, while also exploring 3rd party and custom decorators.
2. Make data processing easier with the help of PySpark. Case study
Based on a case study, we'll show how we used Spark in combination with Python to efficiently process huge amounts of data. We'll look at Spark parallelism that improved our pipelines and made data processing more efficient and discuss problems we encountered, testing, scalability and deployment. We'll go over alternatives to Spark and share why Spark still won the competition.
After the substantive part, there is time scheduled for informal conversations over pizza & beer.
Our workshop will catch you eye if you:
- Value code quality and maintainability
- Work with data
- Want to expand your network and professionals
- Use Python every day and want to learn its niche features
