Introduction to Data Mesh - how to deal with a Data-oriented workplace at Scale

Throughout last few decades we have learnt how to work with and scale software engineering world - from code, to people, to whole IT organizations. Agile and DevOps gave us a huge advantage, but this was not applied to data.

Till today we treated Data as a byproduct that was generated by applications, but because the Data can be even more valuable than these applications we need to acknowledge Data as a First-Class Citizen.

In 2019 the term Data mesh was introduced as a decentralized sociotechnical approach to share, access, and manage analytical data in complex and large-scale environments. It consists of 4 principles:

Self-Serve Data Federated Computational Governance.
