Come to an opening of a very special series at Hive53 focused on using technology and business to have positive impact on the world.
Our first speaker is the original Hive founder and famous entrepreneur in the Polish tech scene, Ela Madej. Together with her friend from Y Combinator and a serial entrepreneur, Seth Bannon, she started a community of people excited about combining profits with purpose via high-tech entrepreneurship.
Soon after, they started their own investment fund called Fifty Years to back technology companies that can become huge businesses by helping achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
So far they have made 30 investments in deep tech companies making cultured meat, animal free leather, clean chemicals, lab robots, cheap and reliable medical devices, or small communication satellites to connect the 4B people who do not have internet in 2017!
Seth and Ela will talk about using deep technologies for impact, why startup communities need to reinvent themselves by looking into biotechnology, space tech, food tech and commercializing academic research.
They will also talk about where they see the most promise -- including the Polish startup ecosystem! -- in the upcoming 10 years.
