Hi all!

This time in english ;)

As our conference is getting closer we're going to have a special guest from the UK at our next meetup - one and only Helen Lisowski!

Helen was so kind to propose to run a workshop about building right habbits.

Building Better (Agile) Habits

Early Stage Agile Transformations are about introducing staff to new process and practices. It would be great if that were all it took to ‘become agile’ – in fact it would be great if we could ALL learn something new by being told it once.

How wonderful would it be if we could see the logic and wisdom of what we were told, and from then on, we would only do things the new way?

This is not how humans work, sadly.

What actually happens is this: we take a decision in our dim and distant past to do something one way. The world doesn’t end, and it sort of got us the result we were after. Now, every time we want that result again, we repeat our learned behaviour.

It takes a surprisingly short amount of time to learn a new behaviour, but an even more surprisingly short amount of time to stop thinking about whether that way still serves us.

Suddenly, a decade or 2 has passed and we are still acting the same way – not because it serves us anymore, but because its what we’ve always done.

And this is where the agile transformation coach comes in, and tries to help teach new agile practices, and turn them into agile habits.

We will start by crowdsourcing some 'bad' habits as examples to work with.

I'll talk about the anatomy of habits, and we will use our examples to practice identifying each of the elements.

I'll then talk about ways we can influence habits (to break them, to alter them or to form new ones), and again we will use our chosen examples to practice coming up with ideas that might work.

Finally we'll talk about other tips and tricks that can use separately or alongside our new skills to really push for success.

HELEN LISOWSKI

Helen works with talented people in the Software Development Industry to build great habits. She has been involved in agile for well over a decade at everything from International Corporations to startups. She uses psychology & behavioural science to help people work at their best, and to deliver value for their organisation.

Helen claims her life is filled with variations on the same question about why we humans do what we do. She has been presenting, running workshops and writing for many years now.

She blogs at FluidWorking.com and you can find her on Twitter at @helenlisowski.

Pizza and beer included :)

See you at the meetup!
