Women in Data Science - San Diego
The Women in Data Science (WiDS) San Diego conference brings womxn students, research scientists and industry researchers for an opportunity to connect, exchange ideas and learn from each other in the field of Data Science. Underrepresented minorities, graduates, and undergraduates interested in pursuing data science, machine learning, and related research are highly encouraged to participate. While most presenters should be women, everybody is invited to attend.
Data science is an interdisciplinary field about processes and systems to extract knowledge or insights from data in various forms, either structured or unstructured, which is a continuation of some of the data analysis fields such as statistics, machine learning, data mining, and predictive analytics. Data science encompasses several areas such as data analytics, machine learning, statistics, optimization and big data management. A Regional event hosted by a WiDS Ambassador, this conference is affiliated with Stanford Women in Data Science Conference.
About Women in Data Science
The Women in Data Science (WiDS) initiative aims to inspire and educate data scientists worldwide, regardless of gender, and to support women in the field.
WiDS started as a conference at Stanford in November 2015. Now, WiDS includes a global conference, with approximately 150+ regional events worldwide; a datathon, encouraging participants to hone their skills using a social impact challenge; and a podcast, featuring leaders in the field talking about their work, their journeys, and lessons learned.
