BUGinnings in IT #6
- 6:00 PM Doors open
- 6:15 PM Open source – the gateway to IT
Open source is in essence, multiple communities of developers working and helping each other out while working on freely available source code. This could be a great place to start your IT journey, however, it can also be quite overwhelming and not always a great experience. I’d like to discuss some rules and ideas that can improve your odds of getting into open source.
Tomasz Godzik • Senior Scala Developer at VirtusLab
- 7:00 PM Never say never
It’s a common story, programming in Logo/Basic as a child, through Pascal and C when growing up, and ending up as a “professional” software developer. But there have been a couple of twists along the way. I ended up doing things (out of my free will!) that I’d never have expected to do when I started. Was it worth it? What might your options be? (btw: I didn’t pivot to herding sheeps in Bieszczady, I’m still doing quite a lot of programming)
Adam Warski • CTO at SoftwareMill
- 7:45 PM Networking
The favourite events for IT beginners are back!
During the upcoming session of BUGinnings in IT, we will hear from two top experts: the CTO of SoftwareMill and the Senior Scala Developer from VirtusLab.
They’ll share lessons from their successful careers and introduce us to the world of open source software.
